The story: Ask them if they speak, and they will tell you. If the idols spoke at that time, the action would be attributed to God and not to Abraham, for it is established by the people of revelation from the people of our path that inanimate objects, plants, and animals were created by God to know Him and glorify Him with His praise, so they do not see any agent other than God, and who is this? In his nature, how could the action be attributed to anyone other than God? Abraham was clear from his Lord regarding the idols that if they spoke, they would add the action to God, because He did not say to them, “Ask them except in the context of evidence, whether they spoke or remained silent.” If they did not speak, He would say to them, “Why do you worship that which neither hears nor sees, nor is of use to you?” Nothing from God nor about Himself, and if they had spoken, they would have said, “God has cut us off completely.” It is not possible in evidence for the idols to say other than this, for if they had said that the great idol did that to us, they would have lied, and it would be an acknowledgment from God of their disbelief and a response to Abraham, peace be upon him, for the great one would not have cut them off, even if they said about Abraham. We are certain that they were truthful in adding to Abraham, and the evidence of their pronouncement of the oneness of God did not require the survival of the great one, so it invalidates the fact that Abraham intended the indication, but it did not occur and he was not believed. And that is our argument that we gave to Abraham against his people, so he had evidence in their speech if they spoke as we decided, and in their non-pronunciation if they did not speak, and such should be.
