By means of the spirit that descended upon his heart or in his representation, the Messenger did not know the Sharia except in this description and nothing other than the Sharia. For the Messenger has the closeness to performing the obligatory prayers and the love for them from God and what that love produces for him, and he has the closeness to the voluntary acts and love for them and what gives him love for them, but from knowledge of God, not from knowledge. Legislation and the implementation of judgment in the world of testimony, and no news of this kind has occurred about it. This fate is what was specific to Khidr rather than Moses, peace be upon him.
[ The prophecy of definition and the prophecy of legislation ]
From this chapter, the Muhammadan who has not developed knowledge of the Sharia is judged by transmission, reading of jurisprudence and hadith, and knowledge of the Sharia rulings, so the holder of this position pronounces with the knowledge of the legitimate ruling according to what it is in the Sharia revealed from this presence. He is not one of the messengers, but rather it is a divine definition and infallibility given to him by this status. The message has no entry into it. This is the meaning of his saying, “Unless you have information about it.” The Messenger does not take this ruling except by the descending of the faithful spirit upon his heart or by an example in his witness in which the king appears to him as a man, and since prophecy was prohibited and the message is like that. After the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, this person was introduced to what Muhammadan law is.
