Read in this order

  1. When is a passage ready for translation?

List uncertain words and references before choosing translation equivalents. What remains unverified?

    Arabic source

  2. How to record a difference between witnesses

Compare a small unit in two witnesses. Record each reading and its location before preferring either.

    Arabic source

  3. Cairo and Konya: using the concordance

Check what the Cairo–Konya concordance locates. Does the page image support the proposed reading?

Final exercise

Make a comparison note containing two references, the observed difference, the image consulted and your reason for a provisional choice. If an image is unavailable, mark the comparison as unverified.
