Choose a short passage and place its Arabic wording beside the English translation. Mark recurring terms, pronouns whose referents are unclear, Qurʾanic quotations, and shifts between prose and verse. This record is more useful than replacing every occurrence of a word with one fixed English equivalent.
For each important term, record the local argument before choosing a rendering. Keep alternatives where the Arabic permits more than one reading. Distinguish a lexical gloss from an interpretive explanation, and label any explanatory words you add.
The existing digital English text is a reading aid awaiting editorial revision. A corrected notebook should preserve the edition reference so that another reader can inspect the same passage and assess the proposed change.
