And know that the Almighty’s saying, “If God had willed, and if God had known good in them, He would have made them hear,” requires denying knowledge of such-and-such and denying will from the truth, just as His saying, “God may know those of you who are sneaking away as a shelter,” and His saying, “God wills for you,” affirm that knowledge and will are together for God and God’s knowledge. It is not without one of two things Likewise, His will is either an attribute of Him that exists in Him and is additional to His essence, even though the provers of attributes say that it is neither Him nor something other than Him, but they must say that it is additional, as Al-Ash’ari believes, or it is the same as His essence, except that it has a special relationship to something that is called knowledge by that relationship, and so on. Whatever it is called from what God Almighty requires, it is neither proven nor denied except the connection of knowledge and will. However, what has been s
