As for acts of obedience, the quorum for which zakat is due is the zakat that is permissible for the one who does it in particular, and it is the one that pertains to the soul. For even if zakat is the right of God, it is not the right of God except insofar as He legislated it, so it is due to us, for God has appointed its disbursers by mentioning the categories who take it, so God gives charity to Him. It is permissible for a person to pay the eight parts of all his deeds, so that is the zakat that God has given him from all his deeds, and that is due to his poverty, his dwelling, his work, his familiarity with obedience to his Lord, and his unity in terms of his faith in it, and to free his neck from the slavery of duties in times of permissibility, even if included in them, I mean duties, because he must believe that what is permissible is permissible until Other
