They did not have a divine command to advance, so what was given to them is obligatory for them to obey it because they are also fulfilled by servitude, so they are standing in it in the position of servitude by obeying the command of their master. As for the choice and offer or request to attain the position, it is only apparent by it. Whoever does not achieve the servitude for which he was created, then this, O my Guardian, I have introduced you in this chapter to their positions, and what remains is the definition of their origins and the designation of the conditions of the rulers of the second class among them. Know, may God help you, that the principles upon which the riders relied are many, including disavowing movement when they are stationed in it, and for this reason they rode. Let us take a rider to be sure of it. If she wants to be proud, the pride should be for the riders, not for the souls. So she took the one who has no power or strength except with God as a protector, since the rider is more patient with water and fodder than horses and other things, and the road is thirsty and barren, and some of the boats who do not have the rank of protector will perish. For this reason, they took it as a lesser protector. Other than that, it is permissible to combine it, and it is not permissible to interrupt it. And since stillness is non-movement and non-existence is their origin, because it is His saying, “And I created you before, and you were not a thing that wanted to exist,” so they chose stillness over movement, which is abiding on the origin, so God Almighty pointed out in His saying, “And to Him belongs that which rests in the night and the day,” that creation surrendered non-existence to Him and prayed for Him in existence.
