Know that the origin of this divine knowledge is the station to which the knowers conclude, which is that there is no station, as indicated by the Almighty’s saying, “O people of Yathrib, there is no station for you.” This station is not restricted to a description at all. Abu Yazid al-Bistami, may God have mercy on him, pointed out this when he was told, “How did you become?” He said, “There is neither morning nor evening for me. Rather, morning and evening are for those who adhere to the attribute, and I do not have an attribute. Morning is for sunrise, evening is for sunset, sunrise is for appearance, the world of dominion and testimony, and sunset is for concealment, and the world of the unseen and the kingdom. So the knower in this station is like the blessed olive tree, which is neither eastern nor western, so no description is imposed on this station nor is it restricted. With it, and it is his share, there is nothing like it, and Glory be to your Lord, Lord of glory above
