The scholars differed regarding the limit of time after which an obligation is transferred from guidance to fasting. Some say that if he begins to fast, then he is obligated to fast, even if he finds guidance during fasting. And there are those who say that if guidance is found in fasting for three days, he is obligated, and if he finds it in the seven days, he is not obligated. And I say the first. As for fasting the three days during Hajj, they differed as to who fasted it on the days of performing Umrah or fasted it on the days of Mina. Some of them permitted it on the days of Mina and others prohibited it. They said that if he missed the first days, the sacrifice is obligatory on him and Malik forbade him before starting the work of Hajj. Abu Hanifa permitted it in our view.
