Know also that God did not create man with knowledge of everything. Rather, He commanded His Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, to ask him for more knowledge, when He said to him, “And say, ‘My Lord, increase me in knowledge.’ For in every situation he benefits from knowledge insofar as it brings him happiness and perfection. For he is the one upon whom the world was created.” A human being’s knowledge includes knowledge of the existence of God and knowledge of the poverty of the One to whom one speaks. If this is the case, then everyone of this characteristic must flee to God in order to witness his poverty and the pain that the rule of poverty gives him in terms of pain for the soul, in order to enrich him who is isolated from Him. Perhaps the pain of poverty will be removed from him by what brings pleasure to him, and he is rich in God, and He is rich in God.
