Know, may God help you, that one of the sciences of this House is the science of comparison, and comparison is of various kinds: comparison with knowledge, comparison with work, and comparison with knowledge may occur thanks to information, or it may be by way of arriving at the known. One person takes his knowledge from God, another takes his knowledge from one of the universes, and the other takes his knowledge from God. He differs, for some of them take from a reason, like the pious one through his piety, and among them are those who take from God, not for a reason, and among the reasons is supplication for an increase in knowledge and differentiation in the known, for a knowledge relates to actions, another to names, and another to the essence. So the scholars explained the separation between what is related to these sciences, and all is divine knowledge, and likewise the comparison with deeds may be.
