Abu Yazid Al-Akbar said, “Asceticism is not a position for me. I was an ascetic for three days. The first day I asceticized in this world, and the second day I asceticized in the hereafter, and the third day I asceticized in everything other than God. Then the truth called me, ‘What do you want?’ I said, ‘I want not to want, because I am what is desired and you are what is desired.’” This statement was criticized by some of the people of the path and ignorance of Abu Yazid’s standing in this regard. We have discussed his intention by this statement and demonstrated the corruption of this statement, I mean the statement of the person objecting to it in other places .
