Gifts differ according to the deserving people. Some of them are those whose giving is his own, and among them are those whose giving is knowledge of Himself, and among them are those whose giving is what is from Him. If the deserving person says of self-deserving, then he is only obligated to give thanks by finding the eye since it was revealed to Him, the Almighty, even if he says of accidental deserving while he sees it. God Almighty has made him worthy, so thanks is multiplied for him, for he is below the first in rank. And if the deserving person sees the merit of what is apparent in some appearance in terms of what is apparent to that appearance, and does not see that his own eye deserves anything, then this is not obligatory for him to give thanks unless he obligates it upon himself, such as enjoining the truth upon himself. Like his saying: Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy, so the gifts are distributed according to the amounts of those to whom they are distributed,
