The sun. He said, “O so-and-so, come down and prosper for us.” He said, “O Messenger of God, you have a day.” He said, “Come down and prosper for us.” He said, “So he descended and proclaimed for us.” He brought it to him and the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, drank. Then he said, “If the sun sets from here and night comes from here, then the fasting person has broken his fast. ” < /p

Whether he eats or does not eat, the law tells him that he has broken his fast, meaning that it is not a time for fasting, and that at sunset he is given the name “breaking the fast.”
