Such charity, if the beggar eats it, produces for him obedience, guidance, light, and knowledge, and all of this is the upbringing of the Most Merciful for it. All that the power of this charity gave him is in the beggar’s soul, from what we mentioned of obedience, guidance, light, and knowledge. He will see it in the afterlife in his scale and in the scale of the one who gave it, and he is the one who gives charity as a substitute. Then it will be said to him: This is the fruit of your charity. Its blessing has returned to you and to whomever you gave charity to. For your charity to Zaid is the same as your charity to yourself, for its goodness will return to you.
