Since the intercessor was in the hands of the one with whom he was interceded for, and the one being interceded for resided between him and his Lord to assist the one for whom he was interceded for, just as the intercessor attends a calamity for which he intercedes by mentioning to the one with whom he intercedes, so the presence of the offender before him took the place of the calamity that he would have attended with remembrance had he not been present.
