Virtue in following and being followed is more worthy of the servant and more deserving of his rank than innovating on his own, for innovation and enactment are a kind of sovereignty and progress, even if it were not that the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was enjoined upon him to enact what he enacted, and he used to say, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, “Leave me as I have left you.”

He hated issues and criticized them, and he did not force anyone else to enact them. Even if a person occupied himself with using the Sunnahs and obligations, it would take up his time, and he did not have the opportunity to enact such matters as the veil of a person’s leadership from his politics .
