Then it is prudent among these men that they descend to what is unique to the prophets and messengers in terms of terminology, so they are hesitant to apply to themselves or to anyone who is neither a prophet nor a messenger the word that they specifically used, so they apply to the messengers who are not the messengers of God the term “heirs” and translators, so they say, “He arrived from such-and-such a sultan.” To such-and-such Sultan, there was an interpreter who said such-and-such. They did not call the sender or the addressee the name “king” out of piety and good manners with God, and they called him “sultan,” for “king” is one of the names of God. So they avoided this word out of politeness, sanctity, and piety, and they said “sultan,” since this word did not occur in the names of God, and they called the Messenger. It is from him that the name Al-Turjuman came, and they did not call him the Messenger because it was given to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant
