A man entered upon our sheikh, Abu Abbas al-Uraibi, while I was with him, and they negotiated a favor. The man said, “O our master, those closest to us are more deserving of the favor.” The sheikh said, “Without stopping to God,” Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin al-Qasim Ibn Abdul Karim al-Tamimi al-Fasi told me. He said, reporting on the authority of Abu Abdullah al-Daqqaq. In the city of Fez, they discussed the act with impetuousness, and Abu Abdullah Al-Daqqaq said, “I won one in which I had no partner. I have never backbited anyone, nor have I ever backbited anyone in my presence.
