It is forbidden to take away a blessing. Ziyad bin Umayyah passed by in confusion and looked at a monastery and said to his servant, “Who is this?” He said, “Deir Harqa bint Al-Nu’man bin Al-Mundhir,” and he said, “Tend us to him, so we can hear her words.” She came and stood behind the door, and the servant spoke to her. He said to her, “Speak to the prince.” She said, “Be brief or be long.” He said, “Rather, be brief.” She said, “We were the people of a household. The sun rose over us, and there is no one on earth dearer than us.” Then when that sun set, our enemy had mercy on us. He said, “So he ordered her to give her sacks of barley, and she said, ‘I fed you. The hand of Shabaa’ was hungry. ’”
