He sought refuge with you. He said, while Moses, peace be upon him, was traveling, he saw a raptor chasing away a pigeon. When the pigeon saw it, it descended on his shoulder seeking refuge with it, and the raptor descended on the other shoulder. When they were about to carry it, the raptor descended upon his sleeve, and the raptor called to him with an eloquent tongue: O Ibn Imran, I am going to you, so do not disappoint me or be permissible. Between me and my livelihood, and the doves called to him, O son of Imran, I seek refuge in you, so grant me protection. Moses said, “How quickly you have been afflicted with it.” Then he extended his hand to cut off a piece from his thigh for the raptor, to protect them and to preserve what he had entrusted to him regarding them. So he said to him, “O son of Imran, I am the messenger of your Lord. He has sent me to you to see the validity of what he entrusted to you.”
