A man who was described as virtuous and polite came to see Abdul Malik bin Marwan, and Abdul Malik bin Marwan said to him, “Speak.” He said, “What am I talking about?” And I knew that every word the speaker speaks is bad for him, except what is for God. Abdul Malik cried and then said, “May God have mercy on you.” The people continued to preach and communicate, so the man said, “O Commander of the Faithful, people will have a difficult time in the Resurrection. Only the one who pleases God with his own wrath will be saved from the depths of its bitterness and the sight of its ruin.” He said, so he cried.
