Know, may God help you, that every animal and every thing that is described by perception, in every soul there is a new knowledge in terms of that perception, but the person who perceives may not be among those who think that that is knowledge, for this is in the same matter knowledge, so the description of the sciences with deficiency in the case of the knower is that perception. He was prevented from doing many things that he would have understood had this obstacle not been present for him, such as one who became blind, deaf, or something else. And the sciences do not rise and fall according to what is known, so desires become attached to the noble and sublime sciences which, if a person is characterized by them, his soul is purified and his rank is increased, the highest of which is the rank of knowledge of God. The highest path to knowledge of God is the science of manifestations, and the lowest of them is the science of sight, and nothing apart from sight is divine knowledge.
