Don't you see Ibn Ba'ora, and God had given him knowledge of the specificity of one of His verses, so he prayed for it against Moses, peace be upon him, and his people, and God answered him in what he called for, and he was wretched in himself, and God took away knowledge of that from him, which is the Almighty's saying: And recite to them the account of whom We have given Our signs, and He took away the verses from them. And He made his likeness like that of a dog, so God reveals to the possessor of this remembrance this knowledge of His care for him, for in that there is a deception to it from where he does not realize it, especially since the soul is made to love the lips of the same sex and to display its value in the sight of God. This is why the greatest saints are hidden and innocent, and you do not see on them any effect of status and closeness. Because of him, the eyes of creation are sharpened toward them.
