He said, Abdullah al-Maghawir advised me, so he said to me, “O Abu al-Hasan, I command you to do five things and forbid you from doing five things. I command you to tolerate harm to people, to avoid harming people, to bring comfort to the brothers, and to be an ear, not a tongue,” meaning, listen more. Of what you speak, and the fifth is to be with the people over yourself, and to refrain from associating with women, loving the world, loving leadership,

We narrated it from the hadith of Abu Darda. He said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said, “Repent to God before you die, and hasten to do good deeds before you become busy, and pray what is between you and your Lord. You will be happy and increase charity, and you will be provided with. Enjoin what is right, and be fertile, and forbid what is wrong, and you will be victorious, O people.” The wisest among you is the one who remembers death the most, and the most assertive of you is the one who is best prepared for it. Indeed, among the signs of the mind is avoiding the abode of vanity, turning to the abode of eternity, and preparing for the dwelling of the graves and preparing for the Day of Resurrection.

Among the commandments of Dhul-Nun are some young men: O boy, take to yourself the weapon of blame and suppress it with the cold of darkness. It will win the bliss of Paradise, and its dose will be the cup of patience, and settle it in poverty until it is complete. Then the boy said to him: What soul can be strong in This is what he said: A soul in the face of hunger was patient, and in the shroud of darkness came a soul that bought the afterlife in this world without conditions or bends. A soul that was shielded by the monasticism of anxiety and grazed the darkness until the clear part. So what do you think of a soul in the Valley of Hands that walked and abandoned pleasures and took possession of it?
