It is because of a mercy from God that You have been kind to them, and this is the meaning of His saying, the path of those whom You have bestowed, meaning the path which You have bestowed upon them, and it is the mercy that gave them success and guidance in the abode of assignment, and it is a mercy of care, so they were thus neither angry with them nor lost because of the guidance He gave them, so they were not perplexed. He says of His wrath. May God bestow upon us the mercy that You bestowed upon those who were undeserving, until You described them as not subject to His wrath, since You bestowed upon them guidance and removed from them the misguidance that is confusion. So who is the one who removes what we have deserved from the wrath of God, so that God may have mercy on them with the mercy of gratitude, which is the mercy that is mentioned in the third verse by name? The Most Merciful, so He removes the torment from them and gives them bliss in what they are in. In the name
