Come to him with voluntary acts of worship, love him, and if he loves him, God Almighty said: If you love him, you will be his hearing, his sight, his hand, and in one narration, you will be his hearing, sight, hand, and supporter.

His saying, “I was,” indicates that the matter was like this while he did not realize it, so the honor that was given to him was this. Closeness is the revelation and knowledge that God is his hearing and his sight, so he imagines that he hears with his hearing, and he hears with his Lord, just as a person used to hear during his life with his spirit, in his suspicion due to his ignorance. In the same matter, he only hears with his Lord.
