The proof of that is this one that melted until it became water. If he had not had love, this would not have been his condition. He was a lover and did not melt until he heard the words of the Sheikh, so his latent love aroused, and it was what was in him. It was a love that had no rule in the lover until the words of a speaker provoked him, a natural love, because nature is that which accepts transmutation and arousal, since it was described as love before the words of the Sheikh, and this dissolution that turned into water did not dissolve after it had become bone, flesh, and sinew. If my God were love, the words of the letters would not have affected him. And his spirituality was not shaken by these circumstances, so he was ashamed of his claim to love, and the fire of modesty rose in his heart, and he continued to analyze it until it
